ACANSA Arts Festival
Why "ACANSA" you ask?
Long before the state of Arkansas received its name, neighboring tribes referred to the local Quapaw as the "people of the southern place" or "Acansa" in the Siouan tongue.
ACANSA Arts Festival has adopted this name in honor of our commitment to celebrating the uniquely rich cultural vitality of our region.
In September of 2014, ACANSA Arts Festival will welcome artists, art organizations and the public to central Arkansas to enjoy a “Southern Celebration of the Arts.” The Festival will feature visual and performing works by established and emerging artists showcased in a variety of venues throughout Little Rock and North Little Rock. Artists can display their finest works for enthusiasts around the region to admire.
The festival is situated on both sides of the Arkansas River in the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock. Artists of all types have helped make this area part of the thriving New South culture—vibrant, cosmopolitan and filled with charm, hospitality and natural beauty..
